The article in The Canine Chronicle is superb. Well written, with quotes from those who actually understand the qualities of the breed. Oh that those in the UK had the same knowledge and insight about the breed before it got parked into the retriever camp, which from a competition perspective has been completely disastrous for the breed. Thank you to all the contributors for a really good read, and a wonderful series of photographs too!

Ha! No, the Spa is actually Colleen's house. (Colleen is Tooey's co-owner). Colleen has a secure set-up for girls in season, and Cooper is still intact, so I usually send Tooey up to Colleen's when Tooey goes into season.

I bought the pants at a local pet store. If you find them online, why not give the company a call and give them your girl's weight and waist measurement -- they should be able to help you choose the right size. If you ever get to a dog show, there are often vendors who sell them also.

Patrice---So what is the Spa? An accommodation for AKC Registered bitches in heat? Why don't we have such a 'convenience' here in the white Mountains of NH....we just have to take Maddy on a long lead and hope there are no boy coyotes on the prowl...ah, when the coyotes howl, how our IWS chimes right in...the Metropolitan Opera in our Timberframe 'Room with the Stove'....! And...seriously...where do you order those panties...we tried on line and their XL was like for a chihuahua! Thank you...we *love* your Blog and your dogs!

Sorry - you are right - I WAS taking it "straight:" should have got the cue when you mentioned all the guns Cooper and Tooey haven't "tried" !!
Please forgive - just a bit sensitive - since we adore our dogs and do give them a lovely life but don't hunt (yet- but that's not a promise).
Cheers,

Hi, K.Z.
Sorry you didn't enjoy the tongue-in-cheek humor of this article. Not everyone's sense of humor is the same, I guess.

My dogs love tennis balls, too, and they have both been show dogs, obedience dogs, pet dogs, and beloved companions, as well as being hunting dogs.

I agree with you completely about the bling -- mine don't wear any either, even when they were show dogs. But I know that some people really enjoy it -- just this last weekend, while I was working at an Obedience show, I saw one handler/dog team that was wearing a lot of rhinestones on the handler's belt and earrings, and the dog's collar.

Thanks for commenting.
